Infinity Scarves

Each year, I crochet scarves for my cousins for Christmas. I choose the pattern, they choose the color. This year I chose to make infinity scarves... and I love how most of them turned out.

4th of July Headbands

It's the 4th of July and I woke up this morning needing some festivity in my hair. My first thought was bow. Then I rememberd that with a bow in my hair, I look about 12 years old. My next thought was buttons and flowers. Below are my experiments.

To Make: Crochet a flower (see previous crocheted flower post here) using red string (the friendship bracelet kind), then tie it to a navy headband. It seriously took me less than 2 minutes. I'll be wearing this one today.

To Make: Cut a piece of wide ribbon (I used navy and white striped ribbon), wrap string (or twine) around the center, then tie to a headband. Again, less than 2 minutes to make. This one did make me look about 12 years old, so I won't be wearing it. It does, however, match the party I'll be throwing Daniel in September. I think I will give this one to my co-host to wear... She looks GREAT in bows and headbands!

To Make: Sew a button (I found a navy button with an anchor) to a headband. Again, only about 2 minutes to make. And this one also matches Daniel's party for September. I'll be wearing this one.

Crocheted Bows

Yay! I finally finished those crocheted bows I was telling you all about... I think they're super cute and I totally wish that I could wear them. Unfortunately, with a bow in my hair, I look even more like a 12-year-old than I already do without the bow... I can't wait until I'm 40 and I look it! Anyway, all I did to create the cuties was crochet a rectangle, tie a knot in the center, and wrap. Viola! I then attached the bows to headbands, hair elastics, and clips to be worn as hair bows. Cute, right? Oh, I'm not done...

So what was I to do with all of these cute bows that I made, but can't wear? Give them away, of course! Yay! I love presents (probably as much as I love puns)! And since Easter is this Sunday, I decided to "wrap" the bows in Easter eggs! I know, I know, too cute! Below are the finished eggs. However, I cannot seem to find a basket to put them in. What?!?! (For those of you who don't know my mom... we used to have baskets hanging ALL over the house!)! Oh, well. Happy crafting all!

Crocheted Flowers

Spring Break is finally here! Now that I have some time away from my classroom, I can finally get to that stack of craft ideas that's been piling up. Below is my first project... crocheted flowers. I made several colors and attached them to hair ties and headbands. I never (seriously, never) actually do my hair, just sort of twirl my fingers through it and hope for the best. Hopefully these cute flowers will at least add some distraction from the tangled mess!

So somehow I was able to finish all my scarves in time for Christmas... Below is a picture of the final scarf worn by my fabulous cousin, Jaimee. Doesn't she look all cozy and warm? I hope you all had a very merry Christmas! Happy crafting!
